Water Fall

Going over Niagara Falls in a barrel of burning oil

on a river of molten lava, just hold on and keep going

when the whole world’s on fire, whether lightning struck

or from a careless cigarette, anarchist arsonists’ violence

tropical rain forest clear cut destroying eco villains

in simple words it’s getting too damn hot for comfort

entering an end times end game age of chaos and disorder

as skies fill with ashes, smoke, and cinders toxic haze

darkness at high noon red sun overhead in orange air

Martian landscape like the gates of hell where it’s all going

to everything there is a season, burn burn burn baby burn!

There is a season for death and a season for rebirth of the earth

after long hot summer comes the fall, winter and the fall of man

after drought and dearth there will follow autumn and spring

time for water to fall from skies to mountains and back to the sea

for streams and rivers to flow downhill water fall waterfall

water water everywhere but Helen can’t see it she can’t hear it

but she ain’t dumb and has a great teacher—Annie got it done!

she could feel the water smell it taste it speak it read it write it

oh the water, oh the water, oh the water let it run all over me…

It’s the end of the world if we blow it, but does anyone care?

too much finger pointing and most of the fingers point back at us

Native Americans warned us not to build in the “land of smokes”

but we did it anyway and here we are, the whole world on fire

instead of cutting the forest back we let it rot in a natural state

building homes surrounded by paradise berthed in napalm

“the future ain’t what it used to be,” but let’s not be petty

Quasimodo in chains begs for water and is pummeled with filth

in the shadow of the burned down cathedral of Notre Dame

but he saves Esmeralda from the mob at risk of his own life

a beautiful soul hidden in the body of a monster becomes a hero

It was the best of times now become the worst of times

but we’ve made it through worse and it’s bound to get better

time passes earth turns people heal water will rise and fall

plants animals people and world will be reborn after gray winter

Jesus asked for water and was given bitter vinegar drugged wine

he went through hell and kept going back to the kingdom of heaven

plant the seeds and watch for rain birds rising into the sky…
