Mark Fisher

Zodiac

monday morning conversation

between gods and goddesses

fallen from the stars

back at work

making ends meet

paycheck to paycheck

spiraling seasons

through years

of spreadsheet calcs

lining up columns

forgetting Olympus

and memories of ambrosia

in hopes of a 5% raise

from corporate

and their

mission statement beliefs

Autumn 2020

Ashes falling

from red-gray skies

with autumn chill hinting of winter.

Before the turkey vultures

fill cloudless Tehachapi

autumn skies.

Ripe apples sold in street side fruit stands

and pumpkins fill church parking lots.

Fire memories fade

with each night’s cold

and we dream of a new year.
